and resources page. This page is designed to help teachers locate
resources that will help them grow professionally. As the page expands,
lesson ideas, instructional strategies, and discussion group may be featured

Regional Conference: The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
will hold their Eastern Regional conference in Boston, MA on November
14-16. Click on the site for details.

Assessment: The State Department of Education has created a web site
that comprehensively explains the Algebra and Geometry assessments.
Teachers can view content
standards, gather
information to assist in planning lessons, and download
practice items for their class. The are also online practice test
for students.
- Maryland
Public Television's Video Resource Schedule: This site provides
the air time for several educational program related to mid-level
mathematics. Be sure to check copyright information.
- National Board
Certification: Teachers who wish to gain National Board Certification
for Early Adolescence Mathematics should visit this web site in order to
review application requirements and deadlines. This worthwhile
professional development opportunity pays dividends in the classroom as well
as the pocketbook. the state of Maryland provides a salary incentive
of $2,000 for each certified teacher. Many local systems match the
grant!!

Public Television's "Sense and Dollars": Looking for ways to
integrate real world economics into the classroom? This web site
provides instructional resources for teachers and students.
- National Teacher Training Institute (NTTI): Each year, Maryland Public Television and WNET sponsor this technology training institute. Visit this site for lesson plans, video utilization strategies, and plenty of real world connections to middle school mathematics. You may even want to earn some extra money by submitting lessons of your own.
