Math Month

Math Month - April 2008

Join educators from throughout the state to celebrate Maryland Math Month in April 2008. This month long celebration is an annual event sponsored by MCTM and MSDE, and coincides with NCTM's National Math Month. In early March, principals will receive packets containing grade-level activities that schools can use to celebrate mathematics.

If you are a member of MCTM, a packet will also be sent to your home, or you can download the 2008 calendars from this web site in mid-March. The packets are in grade band levels :

• Prekindergarten/Kindergarten (Español)
• Grades 1-2 (Español)
• Grades 3-5 (Español)
• Middle School (Español)
• High School (Español)

Activities are in a calendar format that provide math activities to help you and your students celebrate Maryland Math Month in April (also declared National Math Month by NCTM). We'd like to hear about the great things you do during April. A participation response form is included in the packet to do this. Schools' participation will be showcased at MCTM's Annual Mathematics Conference on October 17, 2008 at Eastern Technical High School in Baltimore, MD.

Please print, complete, and return the Participation Response Form to receive special recognition for your school. You can also print out Student Recognition forms for your class.
