What Is MCTM?

The Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) is a professional organization for the teachers of Maryland. Our 1200 members represent all levels of mathematics educators, from preschool through college. An official affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) since 1933, MCTM was one of the earliest state organizations to be affiliated with NCTM.

The goal of MCTM is to support teachers in their professional endeavors that help them become agents of change in mathematics education. The organization encourages an active interest in mathematics and its teaching and works toward the improvement of mathematics education programs in Maryland.

Professionals Continuing Their Growth as Mathematics Educators

:: Why Should I be a Member?

If you are interested in your own growth as a teacher and in making mathematics education in Maryland the best it can be, you should join. MCTM membership supports an annual state conference, occasional regional workshops, new teacher packets, and teaching awards. MCTM has hosted regional NCTM meetings and co-hosted national NCTM meetings. The organization also works collaboratively with other state and national organizations to improve mathematics education.
